The Bellarosa Connection – Saul Bellow

First Penguin paperback edition, 1989. By Saul Bellow. Very good.

This novella is narrated by an aging Jewish American who reflects on his encounters with Harry Fonstein, a Holocaust survivor rescued by the legendary Broadway producer Billy Rose. Through a series of poignant and often ironic events, Bellow explores the impact of trauma, the pursuit of personal identity, and the intricate bonds that tie people together across time and experience.
