The African Queen – C. S. Forester

The African Queen. By C. S. Forester. Boston: Little, Brown & Company, 1935. First American Edition, in unclipped dust jacket. Original patterned cloth covered boards, slight bumping to spine extremities. Small loss to spine extremities and one or two short tears to folds on dust jacket, all expertly restored and repaired, else a very attractive copy. Near Fine, sophisticated.

Forester’s novel was adapted into a film in 1951, with the screenplay adapted by James Agee and John Huston, and starring Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn. Bogart and Hepburn were both nominated for Academy Awards for their roles in African Queen, for which Bogart won the Oscar for Best Actor.
