Signed by Ferber at limitation page. Lim. 175/201. First edition, stated. No dust jacket. Quarter greenish blue parchment boards with tanned white vellum spine, gilt stamped lettering at spine. Deckled edges, gilt top edge. First adapted for the stage in 1927 by Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein II, winning the Pulitzer Prize, followed by a silent film version in 1929, which failed at the box office. It was redone in 1936 with Irene Dunne and Paul Robeson, directed by James Whale, which was a huge success, and again remade in 1951 with Kathryn Grayson and Ava Gardner.
